Welcome to Viper Bats, committed to manufacturing the finest wooden baseball bats available anywhere.
"The sound of a wooden bat connecting on its sweet spot with a baseball thrown sharply right down the middle is one of the greatest sounds in sports."
Viper Bats is an American manufacturer of precision quality wood bats for athletes of all age. When you buy a Viper Bat you're getting the same high standards of craftsmanship used in the big leagues. That's because our bats are made for players by players.
The Benefits of a Fine-Crafted Bat
Before 1972, all baseball bats were made of wood. Players learned to hit pitches in the strike zone because the sting of hitting a bad pitch resonated sorely in their hands. Wood bats are unforgiving. Hitting the wrong pitch can break your bat, and poorly hit balls won't go far.
For these reasons and many more, wooden baseball bats are the best for training players. They teach you to swing level and let the bad pitches go by. Aluminum bats may have changed the game, but the best players - professional baseball players - still play with wood.
Our Story
We started Viper Bats because we love baseball
I’ve been around the game for many years as a coach and umpire. I never really was a good player but I loved to be involved in the game. My son Chris on the other hand, had been a top player in every league he played in from the time he was six years old. At 15 he started swinging wood bats and playing in wood bat leagues.
We purchased our first wood bats from the local sporting goods store but found we were pretty disappointed in the poor quality of what was available. Next we found Tom Cat Bats. These were high quality maple bats and lasted the whole season. We continued our quest for the best maple bat until we found Split Rock Bats, a company that had been making maple bats for pros and non-pros for just over five years. Split Rock bats were made by then owner Kevin Kuklis, a 6' 5" right handed pitcher that threw in the low 90's. In 2003 Kevin had his best year ever in the semi-pros and was invited to the Pro’s Winter Ball.
Kevin found that his new pro career required a lot of travel and he was unable to devote the time required to make quality bats. He began closing up shop and putting the equipment in storage; that’s where my son I came in. We loved those bats so much that we decided to buy of the company! Kevin assisted in setting up our new manufacturing facility and spent quite a bit of time teaching our staff the manufacturing techniques that made his bats such a pleasure to swing. Over the years we’ve not only maintained the quality and craftsmanship that first drew us to Split Rock Bats, but we’ve developed some craftsmanship techniques of our own that make our bats one of the best and most pleasurable bats you’ll ever swing!
I’m proud to say that Viper Bats helped my son go to college on a baseball scholarship. To this day every bat we make benefits from our combined knowledge experience and love for the game. Every bat still gets a swing test by a real hitter, my son Chris who is also our quality control expert. Every bat is a custom wood bat, built to the highest standards, every time.
Viper Bats Pro Line – Our Pro Line was inspired by Chris in the summer of 05'. He had been given several pro models to swing at tryout camps. His favorite was the 174G model and the 421. But the I13 was fast becoming a favorite. All of those models were used by the pros but were not available to the general public. We changed that - We feel all levels of players should have access to the best models out there. Click here to see our Pro Line
